Fungus GrottoA real cool fantasy story, not very long, doesn't update very fast, gorgeous art. Khaos KomixA really good ongoing comic that updates fairly regularly, it does have NSFW chapters, but they're totally skipable if you want to skip em. A lot of queer stuff, including some very well written trans* characters, which means there is a bit of triggers in the ways of misgendering and such.

I'm seconding Kagerou (and the trigger warning for everything) because it's probably my favourite webcomic. It's what happens when a Standard Fantasy Quest goes off the rails, plows through the train station killing hundreds of innocents, then skids to a halt in a surrealist candy-coloured wilderness festooned with childhood nightmares and head-trip gods. Speaking of head-trips, I'm also going to plug YU+ME: Dream, which bills itself as a 'Surreal Lesbian Romance Adventure Comic' and is pretty much exactly that. It's finished, so no waiting for updates. The first act is... something. The art starts out a little shaky, and the story might seem a little trite at first. No. Keep reading. I promise, things start getting more interesting. Oh, and because I keep forgetting to recommend this to everyone: Digger. It is a finished comic about a wayward wombat. It is exactly that weird.

Monster Pulse is pretty good. Sam & Fuzzy is... interesting and updates 3 days a week. Supernormal Step is kind of Super hero ish but in the way that everyone on Earth has some kind of power. Witch and Knight is an adorable and silly adventure about a witch, a knight, and a horse that is not actually a horse. Hemlock is a wonderfully illustrated comic about a witch who lives in a giant snail and a boy who becomes a frog. Fey Winds is difficult to describe but the official description is "a silly fantasy webcomic that's halfway between spoof and epic adventure." Johnny Wander are about the miscellaneous adventures of a comic artist. Whose name is not Johnny. or Wander. Runewriters "It's a fantasy webcomic about a mundane deaf girl and some mages she is friends with, and magic that doesn't always work! And horrible, horrible magical mistakes." Dresden Codak is a beautifully illustrated and generally silly comic. Cucumber Quest "A comic about bunny kids going on adventures and having fun." The fun part kind of relying on which character's view point you take... Hiatus: Daddy Long Legs"A comic starring anthropomorphic arthropods, based off a harvestman, crane fly and a cellar spider, or as people might refer to them as, "daddy long legs". No relation to the novel of the same name." although the first page has a dead cat... Finished Comics: The Locked Maze"The Locked Maze is primarily a story about being small and powerless and still saving the world - not through any personal importance or great talent or anything so dramatic, but just by being the only person who could. One night two years ago, Holly didn't die. And that one event led her to save everyone else." Aaaaand I'll stop now.

Aaaa, AJ! I love Johnny Wander.
Did you ever read Aido's older comic, Fallen? It is definitely old and it's abandoned, but I thought it had some interesting ideas.

No, I didn't know about it! I'll have to try and dig it up from where ever it is hiding and read it...

I really like Hannah is Not a Boy's Name and I heard good things about Johnny Wonder and Starfighter?

OHOHOHO STARFIGHTER OHOHOHO. I want the plot of Starfighter to do more but I really don't think that's the point of that comic, haha. I guess I feel about HINABN the way a lot of people feel about Homestuck? I mean, okay, I guess it's... I like it? I think? I mean, it's a nice start? And the art is kind of interesting? But I just don't... get it? Or rather, I don't really understand the fervor of the fandom, most of the time? This is kind of how I feel about Hetalia, too.

The problem with Hanna is Not a Boy's Name is the the artist has pretty much dropped off the face of the earth about...2 years ago?

with hanna is not a boy's name, apparently the artist is part of some new project that i can't remember the name of that's going to be released sometime in the near future it's also rumored that she might bring the series back under a new title with new names, which i'm kinda excited about, since i just started reading it :B

The reason why she went on hiatus and never came back was due to some issues in her contract. Essentially, any update she made was automatically owned by the website and they didn't have to pay her. I believe she's already released a few pages of her new webcomic? I was told basically what Omondo was told - same idea, different names.
As for reasons WHY people like the comic, it's funny and light, and interesting? So much of the comic just barely scraped the surface and a lot of people can sense that there's much development and depth left to go into. Many people get very attached to the characters she developed!!
